Hepatitis A is a serious liver disease spread through close personal contact with an infected person, or from unknowingly ingesting food or drinks contaminated by an infected person.
The Hepatitis A vaccine is a 2-dose series recommended for any person wishing to obtain protection from this disease. The vaccines must be administered at least 6-months apart. Travelers, people working in food service, all children over the age of one and others at risk are encouraged to receive the Hepatitis A vaccine.
Hepatitis A vaccines are NOT a requirement for school or day care attendance.
A completed Hepatitis A series is NO LONGER required for food/beverage handlers in Camden County, however, food service establishments do reserve the right to require employees to obtain record of having completed their Hepatitis A vaccines to be employed.
